PTSD, written by a female nurse

Hi all,

I don't have many details- a friend just asked if I remembered a book we read in high school and I'm blanking completely. It's a book about veterans and PTSD, written by a female nurse.

We would have read it in 1996 or 1997, so no newer than 1997 but I don't know how old.

I know it's not much to go on, and I'm google-searching like mad, but this friend's husband just came home from Afghanistan so I'd REALLY like to help her out with finding it. Thanks for any hints you might have!
